On weekends when the property overflows with guests and family the traditional Smeg Victoria Range is in constant use. Cleverly disguised doors within the back wall cabinetry lead to a well-appointed scullery, laundry and mudroom. The bespoke steel frame that clads the stone add to materiality and durability. This, after all, is a hard working kitchen on a hard working farm. The clients trusted our vision and were thrilled with the result. MY VELVET CRUSH Interior Designers love velvet, we cant help ourselves, just ask my friend Nita from The Gooses Bridle.  Shes a little obsessed!  Velvet to us, is like what Tonic is to Gin,  Ice cream is to Jelly and Juliet is to Romeo, (well not quite, but its a good analogy).  Seeing velvet makes us go weak at the knees, its our biggest crush! For me it started with my first home, technically it was my second SUMMER ENTERTAINING There is something about summer that we New Zealanders embrace, not the muggy heat, not the mozzies and certainly not the unpredictable weather, but we throw off those BBQ covers and get inviting.  

Subtle and simple, we don’t possess any airs and graces its merely a casual “pop over and we will throw something on the barbie”. Well, I do have a little problem with that, not the simplicity, not the food itself and not the spontaneity, ITS A MOJITO KINDA DAY With the mint taking over the herb garden and the limes sitting idle on the tree its time to take action… I think if anything spells summer Mojitos do and today was a beautiful summers day. Its a simple mix of; 1 C Sugar Syrup 4 C White Rum 1/2 Cup Lime Juice 4 C Sparking water 1 C Fresh Mint leaves Ice Put all the ingredients into a drinks dispenser and FRIDAY FINDS A purchase of potting mix at The Warehouse resulted in today’s find that I had to share with you. This plant stand is the perfect way to add height to this vignette without creating a heavy feeling. It was, in fact only $5.00, and all I did was add the pot and plant, which were already occupants of this old French Dropside table currently sitting in my entryway.
