And because these rope napkin rings are made with an upcycled base from paper towel rolls, you can make as many as you want for just the price of some rope.

This project is also easy to customize for different themes. For an organic feel or a nautical motif, use a natural fiber rope. For a more modern take, try colorful synthetic rope and pair it with a crisp white napkin—or a printed one, like with a graphic geometric pattern. It’s the cheap finishing touch for a dinner party that looks anything but! Step 1: Cut strands of rope to the circumference of a paper towel roll. You will need three strands of rope per napkin ring, so plan according to your table setting. Step 2: Use a serrated knife to cut rings off of a paper towel roll. The width of the ring should be slightly smaller than the width of 3 strands of rope side by side, so that the cardboard interior is less visible from the outside. For example, I cut my paper towel rings to 13/16”, and the width of the 3 strands of rope was just over 1”. Step 3: With hot glue, attach one piece of rope around the middle of the ring. Step 4: Then, attach another strand on each side.
