If your home has been stuck in the winter doldrums, it’s time to shake things up and bring new energy to the space where you live. Decorating, organizing and cleaning your house for the spring will inspire and motivate you to make your home shine. Start with one of these DIY home decor projects listed here and schedule others for when you need a little extra spring pick-me-up! Here are ten tips you’ll love for spring. 1. Bring in spring patterns. Those cozy fabrics you’ve enjoyed all winter might feel too heavy or dark for spring. Wake up your house by covering your pillows with fabric in fun patterns. Take down heavier curtain panels and replace them with sheers or lighter fabric panels.

Change up your bedding to give your room a spring refresh. See what a difference a small change in fabrics will make in your room! 2. Restyle your coffee table.Toss out old magazines or remove anything that doesn’t belong. Dust the table from top to bottom. Set up a stack of favorite spring books, a potted plant and an interesting accessory. 3. Refresh your laundry room. Clean up your laundry detergent container and clear off the machines. Put dirty laundry in to wash, add baskets to conceal and contain products, or hang a door organizer to corral necessities. Add a new curtain or framed spring print to inspire you. 4. Decorate your porch. Find a unique container, like an antique metal bucket or old crate, to hold a green plant on your front porch or add a hanging basket on your door for a bouquet. Show off your personality! Add a sign, a bench, updated door numbers or a welcome sign. 5. Lighten up your dinner table. Decorate your table with a touch of whimsy to usher in the new season.

Set the table with colorful linens, spring dishes and seasonal floral arrangements. Put a serving bowl or attractive container in the center of the table and use it for a vibrant centerpiece to fill with fresh blooms or fruit. 6. Organize the mudroom. Transform your entry into a functional and attractive spring mudroom. Gather a boot tray, an umbrella stand with colorful umbrellas, and a new doormat to tidy your entryway during rainy spring days. 7. Gather your gardening supplies. Get inspired to garden or plant spring pots outside! Find an easy-to-carry bucket or gardening bag with handles to organize small yard supplies. Have your garden shovels, trimming tools, protective gloves and a yard debris bag handy for going outside when the sun shines through. 8. Change out throw rugs. Clean or replace old winter throw rugs by the door or in the kitchen and bathroom. Find an inexpensive indoor/outdoor rug or any small rug in a colorful spring print to liven up your decor.

Try stripes, floral or whatever pattern inspires you. It’s time to freshen up your bookcases. First remove all the books and dust both the shelves and the books. Replace books in a fresh or interesting new way. Group spines by spring colors or organize by subjects. Mix in some lighter accessories to brighten and create the look of space on the shelves. 10. Prepare spring activities. What are the crafts or spring activities you look forward to? Get organized so you’ll be able to find everything you need to enjoy your favorite ways to spend the time. Set up a grab-and-go pack for outdoor activities (walking shoes, water bottle, small snacks).
