In the city you may have a small tree nestled in the corner with colorful lights and popcorn garland. Up north, friends may cut fresh trees from their own backyards. Some Christmases are celebrated in perfectly manicured homes with tiny wreaths on every door, while others are greeted by fresh snow in a mountain cabin. Today, I’m sharing a special collection of ornaments and tree decor tips featuring the Garden Shed collection. This collection is perfect for a cozy cabin look no matter where you are celebrating!

Set up your tree in a corner to save money! This way you only need to decorate half (or a bit more) of the tree. I do this to all my trees each year. Make sure you place it in an area that doesn’t get a lot of traffic so it doesn’t get knocked over. Add height or character by placing your tree in a basket. If your ceilings are short, try a shallow basket. Make sure you place the topper on before the ornaments! This way you won’t have any shifting ornaments while you try to place the topper. Use wide ribbon or garland to fill in a large portion of the tree. This will save you money on ornaments! The jute ribbon with red trim contrasts well with a green tree. Hang the large ornaments first and the smaller complementary ornaments last. On this tree my large ornaments, like this nativity scene, are nestle deep in the tree, while my lightweight cardinal birds are nesting on the outer branches. Smaller pine cones hang off the branches just like they do in nature.

Take a step back and keep evaluating your work as you go! Don’t be afraid to move things around. Coordinate the wrapping paper with the look of the tree.
