Amanda's boyfriend Andrew proposed while they were trimming the Christmas tree. Hear their stories of the proposal--and see their ridiculously cute video--after the jump....Last week, Andrew proposed while we were decorating the Christmas tree! He was handing me the ornaments, and I was strategically placing them on the boughs. After I had hung what I thought was the last ornament, I stepped back to admire my work. That's when he, on bended knee, held out one last ornament--a peacock with a diamond ring around its neck!We even have the moment caught on tape. Andrew told me he wanted to make a video of us decorating the tree, then speed it up and put it to music. Always on the lookout for blogging material, I thought this was a fantastic idea. But who knew I'd get to later rewind the video to watch my jaw hit the floor as a diamond-studded peacock was presented to me!?I'm just amazed he proposed to me when I was in such a dire need of a haircut. (You'll see that in the video.) Don't you worry, though, that mullet was swiftly taken care of the very next day.

I'm so excited to spend the rest of my life with this hilarious and charming man who has permanently plastered a smile on my face for the past two and a half years. (Seriously, sometimes my cheeks hurt so bad...)I was actually incredibly nervous, which came as a great surprise, as I knew that Amanda accepting my proposal was about as much of a sure thing as possible. And, as my mom asked afterwards, "Why were you scared of Amanda?? When editing the video, I had the presence of mind to leave out the five minutes of pale-faced, hyperventilating, sweaty-palmed, trying-not-to-puke-in-a-box-of-ornaments footage leading up to the big moment. It just doesn't make for good TV. I can't really explain it, I guess no matter how confident you are or how much you love someone, putting yourself out there with the biggest question in the world is a seriously daunting task. I felt vaguely hallucinogenic for a solid hour or so afterwards, wandering around in a weird Twilight Zone fog. So, while I'm truly elated to have found this special little (and she really is tiny) person to spend the rest of my life with, I am so relieved to have that little scene out of the way.
