It just takes a little creativity and thought to find the perfect place for a garland and ribbon. Start thinking small to ensure everything fits into the space. Also, consider hanging decorations on the walls and making the furniture a part of the decor too.

When ready to find the best Christmas decorations for the room, head to the reliable sellers on eBay. It is not Christmas without the tree, and even a small living room can handle a miniature Christmas tree. There are many available sizes of artificial trees from tabletop trees up to the grand nine foot tree. The former is a better choice for small spaces, but if a table is not available it may not work. A makeshift stand for the tree helps add a little height, and it can even add to the decor. For instance, a wooden children's snow sled serves as a befitting base for a Christmas tree. A sturdy box covered with a Christmas-themed piece of fabric is another option. Pre-lit or decorated trees also help cut down on storage of Christmas lights and ornaments. Tabletop trees often come with their own miniature ornaments that are perfectly suited to the tree's size.

When floor space is limited, the other option is to take advantage of the walls for decoration. Every living room has at least four walls for hanging a garland, ornaments, banners, calendars, and even lights. Plus, there are usually other areas of vertical space in the living room. Many living rooms boast a bookshelf or two. A tall bookcase can work well instead of a fireplace mantle for hanging stockings or displaying cards. The sides of a bookcase are often left bare and can hold miniature wreaths, garlands, or wall hangings. If the bookcase is very secure, consider hanging or taping ornaments to hang from the fronts of the shelves. Extra Christmas lights wrapped around the exterior frame of the bookcase add a charming sparkle to the room. Clear Scotch tape is strong enough to temporarily adhere these decorations to the bookshelves. The living room furniture can also serve double duty during this time of year. Sofa and chair covers in decorative colors help make a big impact in the room. If the back of a chair is visible, hang a wreath there to fill the empty space.
