This room is on its 11th look. However, decorating is so hard for me, and it might take me 14 times to get it right. Plus, I think I've spent about $3 in 3 years on this room, give or take. I was at my grandma's house on Thanksgiving and she gave me a rug. It didn't go with my house at all, but it was the prettiest rug ever. So, I moved it around my house for a couple months, totally perplexed about how to use it because it's super big at about 12' x 14'. And then, I remembered this awesome tip I pinned awhile back and it all kinda clicked. I kept the dropcloth headboard I made last year and just made a few changes to the bedding. The day I can afford to purchase a king sized bed will be the happiest day of my life. And you think I kid. Until then, we maximize the situation at hand. With their online coupon, they are $3. I know I said I was going to make a pillow out of it, but clearly that was no longer necessary after the above discovery. Mostly because of the ampersand art, but also because I know he's bossy. In addition to Charles' legs, I also used the Precious Metals paint on the new mirror I hung over the silver leafed vanity. You may remember this mirror in its original form over the fireplace in the living room. After the mantel makeover, I decided to paint it and move it in here. To answer the question I know you're thinking: When we first moved into this house, I found those mirrors at a local salvage shop and they were so amazing that I bought two. I've gone back again and again hoping that they will have more, but no such luck. We locked eyes and I just knew. I've come to the conclusion that you can frame just about anything if the frame is pretty and has a mat in it. It's one of life's best kept secrets. Overall, this version of the bedroom makes me feel really peaceful and happy, and what's funny is that it's kind of similar to the first time I ever decorated this room. Learning to decorate has been quite the interesting journey for me, and there are still days when I feel like a total lost cause (which makes much more sense if you've read this). But, I try to remind myself that I started with this three years ago... I think this horrifying picture from my 6th grade ski trip really sums up my potential.
